18U Ontario Provincial Champions
Congratulations to our 18U Boys Team for winning Gold this past weekend at the Ontario Provincial Championships held in Waterloo Ontario. The Team had a winning record of 9-0 throughout the weekend. The 1st Playoff match on the Sunday was a Quarter Final defeating the Mac 18U Team, next was a tough 3 game match vs Pakmen 18U and a very hard fought Gold Medal Match vs Ottawa Mavericks defeating the Mavericks 25-16, 23-25, 15-12. The team had 2 All Stars selected at the Provincial Championships, congratulations to Erik Mattson and Steven Hunt.Next up for the 18U Team will be the Canadian National Championships held in Ottawa Ontario May 2,3,4 2008. The team will be ranked 4th this year at the Championship and look forward to another Gold Medal performance.
Erik Mattson - Ken Davies Award 2008
This years recipient of the Ken Davies Award is our own Erik Mattson. The Ken Davies Award is presented
annually at the Ontario Championships to a male Youth Division athlete
who best demonstrates the qualities of determination, leadership,
athletic ability, sportsmanship and fair play.
Erik has been an outstanding athlete this year and the Toronto Boys Volleyball Club would like to congratulate him with this award.

14U Boys Tier 2 - Silver Medal Ontario Championships
Congratulations to our 14U Boys team this past weekend at the Ontario Provincial Championships. The team had a difficult seeding to start with moving them into the Tier 2 Division Saturday. After Tier 2 Pool Play the team ended up 2nd in their pool moving in the Sunday Playoff Round winning all their games straight to the Finals losing to Chatham Ballhawks in a tough 3 game match (21-25, 25-16, 12-15)Head Coach 18U Mike Chumbley to Assist Team Canada National Team This Summer
Mike Chumbley, 18U Head Coach has been invited to the Canadian Senior National Team as an assistant coach for the summer of 2008. Mike will be joining the National team in late May for players selection camp then return for the Pan American Cup held June 2 - 8, 2008. (Team Canada News)
17U Provincial Championship Results
The 17U team fought through a number of injuries to finish their Provincial Championship on a high note in Kitchener on Apr. 5-6. A short-handed group finished in a 3-way tie for 2nd place in their pool, only to come out in 4th place, meaning a first round playoff match-up with Pakmen (the eventual Provincial Champion) was in store. After a hard fought second set, TVBC fell, only to respond admirably in their final match against Durham Attack, a team that finished 2nd at the prestigious Penn State tournament in February. A hard fought win leaves the boys with the fire and confidence necessary for a successful run at the National Championships in Ottawa at the beginning of May.

Toronto Volleyball Club is pleased to
announce that Erik Mattson (18U Boys) has made a commitment to
continue his volleyball career at University of Alberta. The Alberta Golden Bears have led the last eight men’s volleyball Top
Ten rankings of the 2007/2008 season and have now been established tournament
favourites for the 2008 Canadian Interuniversity Sport championship.

Nittany Ninvitational Tournament 2008 - 18U Champions
Our 18U Team headed into the 2008 Nittany Ninvintational Tournament ranked 3rd and ended up winning their 1st Nittany Nivintational Tournament in Club History. This will be the team's 4th straight Gold Medal so far and they will be planning to continue this trend in their upcoming tournaments and championships.
